4 Fortnights – Real Winter Wonders

Our favorite time of the year is back here in Chicago. Winter time, in Chicago where we hunker down. We’ve transformed our regular ’8 Weeks of Winter Wonder’ from years past into what it is now. We at SPG think this change allows us to pick the best deals as well as more time to enjoy them.

Fine print:

  • Weekdays, all day; Weekends, 8am – 10am
  • Dine-in only

The deals

½ soup & salad (or sandwich) – $6.50 (Dine-in Only) -  Monday Jan 2nd to Sunday Jan 15th

We’re bring it back again this year and we’re adding in the sandwich as an option. We’ll be cooking up some awesome soup for winter (if it arrives) and combining them with a tasting size of our yummy salads or a scrumptious half sandwich.

$5 Bread Pudding Pancake (Dine-in Only) - Monday Jan 16th to Sunday Jan 30th

Take in brunch with a plate of our Bread Pudding Pancakes for only one green Lincoln (excluding tax & tip).

Take home soup - Monday Jan 31st to Sunday Feb 12th

For these two weeks we’re packing up our soups into containers and freezing them to take home with you. Get a meal – take home some soup, perfect for the late winter.

Cupcake for cans - Monday Feb 13th to Sunday Feb 26th

We’re going back to a favorite way to end our ’8 weeks of winter’ with Cupcake for Cans. Bring in one canned good (or more) for one of our famous cupcakes. All cans will be donated to the Lakeview Pantry - give some goods get something great.

Bring in a can per person and get 15% off the meal! Get the percent off your morning joe and help those in need, have a stack of bread pudding pancakes at discount while giving back!

Lakeview Pantry is one of the longest lasting food pantries in Chicago, they serve our local community members in need. If you aren’t sure what to donate a list can be found on their site. Just like our other ’8 weeks,’ it ends Friday (the 26th).

8 Weeks of Winter Wonder: Week 7

coffee to goOur ’8 weeks’ are almost over but we’re still going strong. This week we’re warming you up with a cup of hot, your choice. All of our to-go hot drinks are “buy 12 get 16,” pay the 12oz price for a 16oz drink. From Lattes to coffee to hot chocolates, all of 16oz sizes are the same price as a 12oz size. Don’t forget the 12oz commuter coffee is always $1 from 7-8am… we can’t carry that price over to the 16oz size, sorry!

Come in and drink up, we’ll help you stay warm on the way to work or spin class.

Old day passwordsSomething very different this week.  We’re giving out passwords: each day we’ll send out a new one via twitter and facebook, each day a different deal and with it a different password. Follow or friend us to keep up-to-date and try not to miss anything.

Just passed the hump of winter and we’re making plans for our future ‘weeks’ and Spread the Love on the Thursday before Valentine’s Day. We’ve got lots more planned, so stay tuned.

Carrot Ginger SoupThis weekend was pretty warm, but lets not forget what its like here in Chicago.  The weather can be a foul temptress – not to mention, cold~! The best solution to the freezing cold? Soup, of course!

This week we at Southport Grocery and Cafe are helping you stay warm with soup – frozen so you are able to enjoy our amazing homemade soups at home. We’re giving a free single serving container of soup with each entree for those who dine in… heat up on any cold day. Like all of our ‘Winter Wonder’ deals, this offer will only be available Monday to Friday – so come in this week for a taste of our great soups.

A mouthwatering three stack of our thick and gooey Bread Pudding pancakes topped with cinnamon butter and vanilla custard sauce. Just the right thing to keep you warm this winter. Come in quick, it’s only from Monday through Friday.

BurgerAt Southport Grocery we have given up on our New Years resolution to eat healthy – we tried, we really did. To celebrate our best efforts we’re selling our delectable burger for $6, Monday through Friday this week. Our burger is a savory thick hand-formed patty, topped with grilled onions, sour cream, your choice of cheese – buttermilk blue, Zingerman’s goat, butterkase, or chipotle cheddar – on a brioche bun (don’t forget about the side of red potato mash.)  Oh so perfect on these cold days, something warm and delightful. If your crash diet crashed and burned, our burger will finally fill your belly – you have to treat yourself sometime.

Only two weeks into the ’8 weeks,’ the deals and specials just won’t quit.

It’s the first week after your New Years Resolution and we’ve got a couple things to keep you going: A new 1/2 soup and 1/2 salad for $7, and an updated salad only available this week: poached shrimp salad, poached shrimp, arugula, radish and red grapefruit with a citrus vinaigrette for $9. Start this year off on the right foot, eating right. But come in quick, they’ll only be around from this Monday the 4th to Friday the 8th.
