Thats right, we do private parties right here in the heart of Chicago. Shock and awe? Yeah, it happens. We here at Southport Grocery have the unique ability of opening our doors for private parties after normal store hours; this means no back ‘private party’ rooms or paying a huge premium on shutting a place down. You and your guests can sit (or stand) in the comfort of our grocery and cafe, without a worry in the world.
Get some locally grown food into your wedding guests for a rehearsal dinner, wow your friend on their birthday with a restaurant full of friends and butt-kicking-good food. Want to have a real foodie dinner for your family, no matter what you are celebrating? We can help.
We won’t force you into breakfast, don’t worry! We really enjoy doing dinners, but if you want breakfast for dinner, we can arrange that too. As far as building a menu goes, we can do anything. If you have something in mind already, we can work with you, and if you have no clue, we can help. Even if you don’t want to deal with it at all and you want a surprise walking in, like our Secret Supper, we can do that. For private parties we can arrange a full sit-down dinner or passed hors d’oeuvre r. You can even have something in-between, the cafe is your oyster.
So if you are looking now or in the not-so-distant future, think of a local favorite for your private party – us!
Our ‘8 weeks’ are almost over but we’re still going strong. This week we’re warming you up with a cup of hot, your choice. All of our to-go hot drinks are “buy 12 get 16,” pay the 12oz price for a 16oz drink. From Lattes to coffee to hot chocolates, all of 16oz sizes are the same price as a 12oz size. Don’t forget the 12oz commuter coffee is always $1 from 7-8am… we can’t carry that price over to the 16oz size, sorry!

Valentine’s season is coming up sooner than you think. Are you ready? Your sweetheart may be marking down the days, waiting for your impending failure. This year prove them wrong! We’ll give you that leg up on Thursday February 11th from 6pm – 9pm.
This weekend was pretty warm, but lets not forget what its like here in Chicago. The weather can be a foul temptress – not to mention, cold~! The best solution to the freezing cold? Soup, of course!
This week, we’re doing something really momentous: $5 Bread Pudding Pancakes! You are reading that right, dine in for nearly half price on our signature Bread Pudding Pancakes. A mouthwatering three stack of our thick and gooey Bread Pudding pancakes topped with cinnamon butter and vanilla custard sauce. Just the right thing to keep you warm this winter. Come in quick, it’s only from Monday through Friday.
At Southport Grocery we have given up on our New Years resolution to eat healthy – we tried, we really did. To celebrate our best efforts we’re selling our delectable burger for $6, Monday through Friday this week. Our burger is a savory thick hand-formed patty, topped with grilled onions, sour cream, your choice of cheese – buttermilk blue, Zingerman’s goat, butterkase, or chipotle cheddar – on a brioche bun (don’t forget about the side of red potato mash.) Oh so perfect on these cold days, something warm and delightful. If your crash diet crashed and burned, our burger will finally fill your belly – you have to treat yourself sometime.
