MOD Is In

Friday, February 29th, 2008

We just returned from the Fancy Food Show in San Diego with our bags and tummies stuffed with the latest trends and products in the world of gourmet food.

Our favorite was Modmix: the organic cocktail mixer.

With a nod to “mod” cocktail parties of the 1960s, Modmix harkens back to a time when barteners were mixologists & a certain British spy was ordering martinis “shaken not stirred.”

MOD…Modern Organic Drinks…Get it?

Modmix ($16.50) has the ability to transport you to another time and place. Add tequila to Citrus Margarita and suddenly you’re on the Mexican Riviera.
Add champagne to Lavender Lemon Drop and suddenly you’re on the Italian Riviera. Add vodka to French Martini and suddenly you’re…well you get the idea.

MOD is in! It’s SO in that we now use it in our mimosas ($8.00). Try one next time you’re in for brunch.

The People Have Spoken

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

Sunday is our busiest day of the week. We’re chock full of late lunchers, early brunchers, and all-around hungry munchers. Unfortunately, by closing our doors at 3 o’clock,
we haven’t been able to accommodate everybody who wants to dine with us. Who are we to deny the demands of the people?!

That’s why we’re happy to announce that Southport Grocery & Cafe will be open until 4pm on Sundays with last seating at 3:45pm. That’s 4pm Central Standard Time

We hope to see you soon. By the way, our employees thank you for wanting to eat later rather than earlier……or this would be an email about us opening our doors at 7 am!

Valentine’s Day Cookies

Friday, February 8th, 2008

I love when we make special things for the seasons that make a holiday special. Right now we have our handmade valentine’s day cookies…boxed just like our Christmas cookies. Linzer hearts, marshmallow moons and chocolate drizzle drops…just to name a few!!!

Sweets For Your Sweetheart

Thursday, February 7th, 2008

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. But, if chocolate is involved, the same route could be taken to a woman’s heart. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner,
Southport Grocery & Cafe is going to put that theory to the test.

For chocolate purists, Fran’s 10-piece sleeves of Chocolate Hearts ($11.50) are made from Pure Venezuelan Milk or Dark Chocolate and define elegance. For adventurous chocolate lovers,
Vosges Aphrodisiac Mini Bar Library Box ($24.00) offers an exotic assortment of chocolate bars.

A Library You Can Eat

The nice thing about chocolate is that you can dip just about anything in it. That’s the idea behind Anysetiers du Roy’s Fondue Au Chocolat ($14.95). These 7 oz. crocks can be heated up at home
to enjoy dipping in Chocolat Noir, Lait Gourmet & Lait Vanille. We’ve also bundled some of these Fondues with our homemade marshmallows and biscottis ($20.00). We’ll be preparing for Valentine’s Day just like any other holiday…by baking. For a limited time, we’ll be offering a box of Handmade Valentine’s Day Cookies ($16.50). Of course, chocolate will be well represented in this array.
