Camping 2008

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

Every year we take my husband’s family camping. Last weekend it was to Covert, Michigan. It was my first time to this part of Michigan and I will definitely be back. Just experiencing this ‘fruit belt’ is reason enough alone.

As a former Girl Scout camping is something that I love to do…once a year. And for me it is all about the food. The classics are always part of the menu…s’mores…but try them with a saltine cracker, our PB Loco Chocolate Peanut Butter and, of course, the roasted marshmallow and a square of chocolate. A new one for 2008…take a plain donut and place it on a piece of foil, sprinkle it with a little cinnamon and sugar, top with fresh blueberries and peaches or whatever fresh fruit you have. Wrap and place on the coals of your campfire. Roast 3 minutes on each side…and then enjoy!!!

So Much New!

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

I am excited…there are so many new grocery items. It was like Christmas the last few weeks…unpacking all the boxes. Some of my favorites…Sonoma Syrup Strawberry Vanilla Syrup…with just a lttile bit of tartness and the right amount of sweetness.

Over the weekend I drizzled it over a roasted plum shortcake… it was so good. And, PB Loco Raspberry White Chocolate Peanut Butter…all you need is toast! Oh and then there is RJ’s Soft Licorice and Eli’s Thins and LA Olive Oil and….

Bea’s Ho-made Frozen Pies

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

I have been going to Door County since I was 5 years old…so, let’s say for quite some time now. For the first time this Memorial Day weekend I tried one of Bea’s frozen pies….my sister tried to tell me that she was baking:) It was soooo good…so good that we now carry them here in the store…all the way from Bea’s fourth-generation canning business in Ellison Bay, Wisconsin.

Thanks Amy for ‘baking’!
